License Agreement & Author Copyright
Upon acceptance of a manuscript, the copyright of the published article is transferred in full to the Editorial Board of the Nigerian Journal of Physics (NJP). By submitting a manuscript to NJP, authors grant the journal the right to publish, reproduce, distribute, and make the article available in all current and future formats and platforms. NJP does not publish under an author-retains-copyright model.
Open Access and Creative Commons Licensing
All articles published in NJP are made available as open access content under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
What the CC BY 4.0 Licence Allows
Under this licence, any user is free to:
- Share: Copy, distribute, and transmit the article in any medium or format, and make it available to others
- Adapt: Transform, remix, and build upon the article to create derivative works
- Use commercially: Incorporate the work into products or services for profit
Conditions
The only requirement imposed by the CC BY 4.0 licence is:
- Attribution: The original author(s) and NJP must be credited in the manner specified by the author or licensor
- A link to the licence must be provided
- It must be indicated if any changes were made to the material
- Attribution should be given in a reasonable manner but must not suggest that the licensor endorses the re-use

Attribution Guidelines
Proper attribution of a published NJP article should include:
- Author name(s)
- Article title
- Journal name: Nigerian Journal of Physics
- Volume, issue, and page numbers
- Year of publication
- DOI or stable URL
- Licence information (CC BY 4.0)
Example: "This article by [Author Name], titled '[Article Title],' published in the Nigerian Journal of Physics, is available under CC BY 4.0. https://doi.org/[DOI]"
Copyright Transfer and Permissions
By submitting a manuscript to NJP, authors grant the Editorial Board permission to publish and distribute the work electronically, in print, and through any abstracting or indexing service, including libraries and repositories worldwide.
Third-Party Material
Authors are solely responsible for obtaining written permission to reproduce any third-party material (figures, tables, substantial text passages, etc.) included in their manuscript. Permission documentation must:
- Be attached to the submission
- Clearly identify which figures or materials are covered
- Confirm that the material may be published under CC BY 4.0
- Include any attribution requirements specified by the original copyright holder
NJP cannot publish articles containing copyrighted third-party material without appropriate permissions.
Moral Rights
Although copyright transfers to the NJP Editorial Board upon acceptance, authors retain their moral rights, including:
- Paternity right: The right to be identified as the author of the work
- Integrity right: The right to object to derogatory treatment of the work
Moral rights cannot be waived and remain with the author regardless of the copyright arrangement.
Corrections and Retractions
Corrections
If corrections are required after publication:
- Corrections will be published as a linked erratum document
- The CC BY 4.0 licence remains unchanged
- Corrections become part of the permanent published record
- The original version of record is preserved
Retractions
If an article is retracted:
- A retraction notice will be published and linked to the original article
- The article will remain in the archive, clearly marked as retracted
- The retracted article remains citable
Agreement to Terms
By submitting a manuscript to NJP, all authors confirm that they:
- Agree to the copyright transfer to the NJP Editorial Board upon acceptance
- Grant NJP the right to publish the work under CC BY 4.0
- Comply with all licensing and permission requirements described herein
- Accept that disputes will be resolved through established NJP procedures
